Student Parking on Campus
Welcome to the University of Georgia from Transportation & Parking Services! We are so excited to see your student on campus.
For new or returning parents, we want to share some information regarding the ins and outs of parking at UGA. As we plan for the 2024-2025 academic year, please remember that campus parking availability is extremely limited; there will be students who do not receive parking permits. While physical space is rarely available on the Athens campus, Parking Services takes every opportunity to add parking to campus.
Student parking permits are awarded based on housing status. If a student is living on campus, they will have the highest priority in residential lots. Students who live off campus will have priority in commuter lots. Permit parking maps may be viewed here.
We recommend that you familiarize yourself with these options and review the associated pricing for lots.
Students may apply for a parking permit and assignments are based on priority. UGA parking requests are not awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. More details will be sent when parking permits become available for the fall semester, usually in mid to late April.
As a reminder, parking availability is extremely limited. We recommend that you plan for the likelihood of not receiving a parking permit for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Tips for Requesting a Parking Permit:
- Applicants can select up to five parking lots to be in their waitlist selections. Be sure to make all five selections! Choosing less than five waitlists reduces your chances of receiving a permit.
- Consider where your priority group has precedence on the Parking Priority Chart (example: Students living on campus have the highest precedence in housing/residential lots).
- If you do not receive a permit assignment or your top choice when assignments are made, your name will remain on the waitlist and assignments and/or changes to lot assignments will occur throughout the year based on space availability.
- If you do receive a permit assignment, you must accept your permit via the Parking Account Management System. Failure to accept your permit assignment will result in your assignment being passed to another applicant.
- Additional tips, information, and maps can be found here.
