UGA Transportation & Parking Services (TPS) hopes your student is settling in well this semester. We want to share some important information to help ensure that their parking experience on campus is safe and hassle-free.

A Friendly Reminder About Purchasing UGA Parking Permits
UGA parking permits can only be purchased directly through UGA TPS. This is the best way to guarantee that your student receives a valid permit and avoids any potential issues.

Be Aware of Scams
Unfortunately, we've seen a rise in scams where individuals attempt to sell fake parking permits online, often using social media apps like GroupMe. These scams can be quite convincing, asking for payment upfront and even requesting proof of UGA affiliation. After payment is sent, the victim receives an invalid permit, leading to financial loss and sometimes even identity theft.

Another scam we've encountered involves requesting license plate information to add a vehicle to an existing parking account. Scammers send a screenshot showing the plate added to an account, but after payment is received, they remove the plate, which can result in citations for your student.

How to Avoid These Scams
To keep your student safe from these fraudulent activities, please ensure they:

• Request and purchase UGA parking permits through the official Parking Account Management System.
• Only trust communications regarding parking permits that come from the official UGA email address: parking@uga.edu.
